A book beats a feed

A blog is chronological: the newest post sits on top and everything else sinks. We forget what we wrote last year and are never incentivized to update them, even when we learned new things.

Social is worse. It rewards the latest and the thin. A flash in the pan, gone in the next second.

A commonplace book is organized by topic, not time. We can easily find our notes, constantly organize and connect ideas, and endlessly refine them. Over years, that compounds into a body of work instead of a pile of posts.
